About the destination<\/strong><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Basque Coast UNESCO Global Geopark <\/span><\/a>is wedged in between the Bay of Biscay and the Basque mountains in the municipalities of Mutriku, Deba and Zumaia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Geology is the true protagonist of a landscape that preserves some of the most impressive episodes in the Earth\u2019s recent history. The 13 km of cliffs in the Geopark have a spectacular formation of rock layers known as Flysch deposits, a large encyclopaedia of over 60 million years of the history of the Earth. You can walk along these cliffs or go on a boat trip and sail across time to discover, for example, the thin layer that indicates the point of extinction of the dinosaurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Inland in the Karst world, time seems to have stopped. Here you will enjoy the roots of some of Europe\u2019s oldest caves, occupied by distant ancestors and learn pieces of their culture and way of living.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ecotourism experiences<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Basque Coast Geopark, you will be able to discover the peculiarities and secrets of this unique destination together with your guide by joining a geological tour on foot and by boat. On foot you will visit the majestic cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and by boat you will approach the rocky outcrops to see first-hand the most impressive geological perspectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You can also join a gastronomic experience to learn about the \u201coctopus of the Flysch\u201d,\u00a0 its fishing roots and the gastronomy associated with it in the Basque Coast. If you prefer to walk the path in this unique destination, there are many options like the georoute of the Hidden Valley in Olatz or the route of the Flysch, between Zumaia and Deba.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
